Meet Scott Cornish.

Sports therapist · Strength & conditioning coach · Lifelong mountain athlete

“It's about what you can do, not what you can't.”

Scott trained in physiotherapy in the UK (BSc) and works as a sports therapist and strength & conditioning coach, with more than 25 years in adventure sport. He still races off-road, trail runs and ski-tours, now into his 50s, so he reads athletes from the inside: he is one.

At 33 he was diagnosed with degenerative lumbar disc disease and told to give up the sports he loved. He found another way — rebuilding the confidence and tissue tolerance he needed through the strength and power training he still does today.

He understands that we all move differently, and that asymmetry is normal. He doesn't chase the outdated notion of "perfect" posture, movement or alignment. Instead the work is pain-free, confident movement and building the tissue tolerance your activity demands — whatever your age, level or starting point.

Alpinists on a snow ridge below the Mont-Blanc massif above Chamonix

Built for the mountains you ride, run and ski.

Alpine terrain does not do easy. Long climbs, big descents, multi-day objectives and full ski seasons ask a lot of a body. Managing that body to reduce the chance of injury is part of the training.

Trusted by athletes, in the valley and beyond.

If you're looking for a sports massage in the Chamonix valley, look no further than Scott. Literally the best massage I've ever had. Whether you need deeper work to ease off tighter muscles or something lighter, Scott knows his stuff — got my legs in perfect shape for both the CCC and UTMB.

Scott is a fantastic therapist — but actually he's way more than that. His focus is on causes, not symptoms. For me that was six weeks of targeted strengthening that got rid of six months of searing pain in my foot. He's my go-to in the valley.

Scott turned up with a broken arm! It was the morning before my race and my back hurt so much I couldn't touch my knees. After an hour of manipulation and taping I had no problems with my back or feet for the 45 hours I was running. Awesome.

I booked three sessions with Scott on a week's holiday in Chamonix. He is nothing short of brilliant — a highly instinctive practitioner who treats injury, tightness and stress with subtlety rather than brute force. A real gift for reading the body.

My old back issues seem to have been resolved. The imbalance has improved over the year, allowing me to regain my confidence for 24-hour races — and achieve my third WEMBO solo singlespeed jersey.

I came to Chamonix to train for the Berlin marathon with a couple of niggles and dropped Scott a line. He got me working again, and after two weeks I beat my 3:15 target and raced a 3:13. Thanks again Scott!

My wife developed severe shoulder and neck pain a week into our family holiday. We messaged Scott late on a Saturday and he saw us the next day, a Sunday. He looked for the root cause, not the symptom — immediately the pain was gone and her range of motion restored.

At 60, with 12 weeks to go, I asked Scott to get me ready to ride the entire 1968 Vuelta route. Instead of being at the back and struggling up the hills, I felt strong and even reached the tops of some climbs first. A complete transformation.

Scott has supported a Grand Tours project I ride — we've completed both the 1968 Tour de France and Vuelta routes. He kept us all on the road and free from injury on a daily itinerary normally the preserve of pro athletes.

For the first time in my life I trained for a mountain bike race, after ~15 years as a recreational rider. Scott kept the plan flexible enough that I could complete it, even with a full-time job and a new baby. I became active regularly, not just a weekend warrior.
